Poems and strange mumblings
THE DAY I MOVED HOUSE
By Doreen Yates
It
was 8am in the morning on Friday the 11th January 2008
Moving
house today, hope the removal van is not late
It
had arrived at last the day I had longed so much for
Six
months its taken, I can now forever walk out that door.
I
heard the van pull up the street, its time for the mayhem to begin
Moving
all the furniture out, whoops watch that, that's my new
bin
Well
it took a few hours to load it all, we could now soon be on the
way
That
call from my solicitor arrived to say your moneys in the bank,
hooray.
No
rain when we finally got on the road , in fact it was a sunny
day
But
mightn't you know with 3 hours travelling ahead the heavens had their
way
We
had just hit the motorway and the dark clouds starting to
appear
Down
the rain came, faster and faster, making driving difficult and
unclear.
At
last after 4 hours on the motorway we arrived at my new
place
But
it was still pouring down with rain much to our disgrace
With
no choice to unload everything in the rain, more fun and
games!
You
guessed it, all my furniture got wet, and me - what a
shame.
It
was an experience that I shan't forget for a very long
while
There
were moments I wanted to cry and others I had to smile
Its
been a few months now since that mad and crazy move day
Boxes
are now unpacked and my new home is lovely I must say.
But
I often have a smile when I think of all that went on
It
had taken 12 months to sell my house and now its all gone
Many
tears and laughs have passed my door since that day
But new hope rises and I am ready to begin again here and stay.
