My Memories.

I wrote this poem as a tribute to Oldham and its people. I moved here in 1996 and am now in the process of moving to pastures new. I have many happy memories of living in this area that will stay with me forever.

My Shadow (Dedicated to Mom).

I wrote this poem a few years ago and never completed it due the sadness of it, but now after much encouragement to start writing again, I decided to finish it and make it a dedication to my mom who died in May 1991. Although in some ways its very sad, it also now has a happy ending.

Us People.

This is a poem about the different sorts of people you meet in life.

Oh No, Not again

You know when you are having one of those days when absolutely everything goes wrong - well this is a comedy send up of such a situation - I came up with the idea and wrote it when a friend of mine had experienced just such a day. I have used a political theme just for fun. I could just imagine Tony Blair saying this.

That Money Message

We all get them, those emails and phone calls, trying to tell us we have won millions and just give us your bank details, or telling you that you have a long lost relative who has left you millions, but they just need all your personal information to make sure you are you, ha ha, I hear you say. Well this poem says it all.

Once a year

This is a comedy poem about our Birthday - hopefully most of us can remember celebrating it!

Hold the Front Page

War to me is senseless, the only thing it ever seems to achieve is heartbreak and the loss of many lives, so this poem is dedicating to all our soldiers who have fought in wars on our behalf, whatever country they may have come from.

That Older Generation (Hidden Hearts) by Doreen Yates and Jere Van Loan

This poem was made up from some lyrics that my dear friend Jere who is from California sent me - he asked me if I would like to turn into a poem, which I did and Jere added some music to it - you can hear the spoken version on icompositions - just follow the link to my page. A subject close to many of our hearts I am sure about the way some of the older generation are treated and how they deserve much more respect. You can listen to a lot more of Jere's work also if you wish just go to icompositions.com .

My Sunshine

This is a poem I wrote quite a few months ago, originally I was not going to publish this, it has special meaning to me. Its dedicated to a friend who without their past support I would not be writing poetry today. I nearly lost that friendship, but am truly glad to say I did not, and have since made a lot of new friends because of that support for which I am truly thankful. Do hope you enjoy.

Torn Apart

This is a more personal take on how war effects families all over the world. Another brilliant musician friend of mine by the name of Hernan (macoco) who I know from my icompositions site, liked my poem "Hold the Front Page" so much, that he asked me if I would be interested in writing a more personal one which he offered to put music to.. There is no sense in war, its hurts families all over the world and in the end never achieves much. I do hope you understand mine and macoco's motivation for doing this. You can listen to the spoken version with music on my icompositions site - just follow the link already shown on my page.

Chocolate Brown

This is a poem about the first car I totally owned that was mine - my chocolate brown mini and the fun that I had with her.

Ouch that Hurt

This is a comedy take on a dentist experience and how costly its getting which I am sure many of us have had.

Thinking Cap

A light hearted look on how we rely on our brain to keep us calm when under stress.

The Day I Moved House

I moved house on the 11th January 2008 and had many laughs and tears on that day.  Wrote this comedy poem to celebrate that day.

Disaster at the Supermarket

I wrote this one after a funny experience I had with a supermarket trolly with a dodgy wheel and thought it would be fun to share the experience.  Slighly exaggerated of course to make you laugh.  I hope you enjoy reading.
